​Since 2009, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races has been at the forefront in raising funds for breast cancer services and awareness in the State of West Virginia, raising in excess of $230,000. That has gone to directly provide mammograms and other early detection services for West Virginia residents. As well as, Survivor & Thriver assistance.

Misty Bennett, who lost her life to breast cancer in March 2018, was one of the founding members of the West Virginia Breast Health Initiative (“WVBHI”) and firmly believed that “No One Fights Alone.” Part of her legacy with the WVBHI is through a program called Misty Bennett’s Seeds of Hope - a program is designed to give charitable contributions to local community organizations throughout the State of West Virginia who can then work in those areas to provide mammograms and other detection services to the uninsured or underinsured.  In 2018, the first Misty Bennett Pink Ribbon Stakes, the prize money was $25,000. That purse has now grown to $500,000. One of the top 4 richest horse races in West Virginia.
